This Year, Upgrade Your Morning Lemon Water Ritual! (Bonus: No Equipment Needed!)

Happy new year everyone! Even though every day is a new day, a new year always feels like a fresh slate, doesn't it?!

I don't make resolutions, but I do set monthly goals—and even smaller weekly goals, towards my envisioned development. When I reflect back on last year, I realize that there are some major imbalances in my life (no surprise there!). My January goal is to meditate on why these areas lack my attention, what fears I have that keep me held in a static place, and how I can rewrite my baseline narrative. I've also set myself some very personal goals, mostly around the theme of emotional communication and positive thinking. It's not so easy to unwrite and rewrite all these deeply embedded ways we communicate! We may know what we can improve and even have tons of theory to try, but putting it into practice is work! To identify root causes and recode habits of thought and action requires consistent contemplation and intervention, so one way we can ground any new practice is to S-L-O-W down. I'm really having to re-learn this simple strategy in my certification studies in Bo Forbes "Yoga, Mindfulness, Neuroscience, the Body, & Contemplative Practice." In our speedy world, where even yoga is fast, slowing down feels like learning to walk all over again. But, I keep reminding myself to take baby steps and make each one steadily and make it count.

Anyway, speaking about baby steps . . . January is cold where I live, so for me it's not a time to begin any full-on raw food based detoxes, but I rely on a "baby" detox drink—throughout the year actually—to help support my body's daily cleansing process. It's this amped-up version of warm lemon water! I give this recipe to my clients, especially those who don't have fancy blenders and juicers, but I wanted to share it with everyone here too because I love inexpensive recipes that are easy to incorporate and deliver great results!

These few simple, but highly potent ingredients can give your daily warm lemon water a huge upgrade, and while it takes a minute longer to make, it's worth the extra immune boost, metabolism support, AND gentle detoxification help. Let me know if you like it!

I hope this year brings you heaps of love and vitality!
